We have found a Red-Tailed Hawk nest with mom inside and pa sailing around the immediate area. After about 4 hours we found the owners of the land and now have permission to enter and film. We will keep you informed of Red -Tail quest and hope it produces some exciting film and photos.
It was a chore to get up that high 33 feet to be exact ! Managed to take some film, photos and some measurements.
As you can see, quite high and very large. The nest did measure approximately 34 inches in diameter, 25 inches outside depth and a mere 2 1/2 to 3 inches inside depth.
As seen below the eggs measured approximately 2 1/4 inches, about the size of a chicken egg. We were very careful not to touch the eggs, nest or tree.
